My interest in hiking came about in a very unique way. As a 39 year bone marrow transplant survivor, I travelled across the country to Montana to meet a fellow survivor. It was during this trip my love for hiking emerged.
I have learned to celebrate life and live it to the fullest. I have also learned how important it is to give back.
You can be someone's hero by joining the Bone Marrow Donor Registry. A simple swab could save a life!!
This is an awesome hike in New Hampshire with an incredible view.
Not a long hard hike, but one that's fun to do especially in winter.
I will never forget this hike on June 24, 2021. Globalhiker and Hucklesherri_finn set out to conquer the summit of Mt Washington, New Hampshire. We have made several visits to the White Mountains the last few years and always talked about one day attempting Mt Washington...well that day finally came! After a long battle climbing over boulder after boulder, we were able to bag another peak! This one was a monster for me, very hard with tons of leg cramps.
We started the day off pretty early, and entered the hike via the Jewell Trail, right next to the Cog Train Station. The hike through the forest was very pretty and peaceful. Watching the sun peek through the trees gave off a beautiful glow that was amazing. We took our time along the way taking many pics, listening to birds wake up and sing to us, and keeping an eye out for bears. Luckily, we didn't see any bears because I forgot to take my bear spray, a first for me.
Finally, after a few hours we broke through the tree line to a view that just put you in awe. It was amazing! We were both excited and after taking in the view a bit we started back up the trail. It was very scenic. As we went along, the boulders seemed to get bigger and bigger and it almost seemed like they were growing in front of us and never ending. This is were my leg cramps started to come on. The pain was pretty bad so we had to take some breaks and at one point I wanted to turn back. Thank God for Hucklesherri_finn and the trail angels that passed by us for all the support and encouragement to help keep me going up the trail.
The boulder section pretty much went all the way to the summit. This slowed us down, but after about 6.5 hrs, we finally reached the summit! Putting my foot on the summit was an amazing proud moment. I teared up with excitement and I'm still filled with joy from this amazing hike. I'm looking forward to hiking this again some day. I'm very proud of Hucklesherri_finn and myself for bagging this peak together!
Hike On!

For any hike, you always want to prepare for the elements. Bad weather can hit at anytime on any mountain. Mt Washington has some of earths most extreme weather, even in the summer you can have a blizzard up there. Three jets streams meet over top of this peak and the weather can turn deadly in no time. So always stay safe, be prepared, and hike on!
